renewable beeswax container
Zhong is a beeswax container for oily and sticky substances, and in this case, sesame oil. The shape of this piece is inspired by ZhongZi, which is a traditional Chinese dish made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves. Growing up in Taiwan, I would spend every Dragon Boat Festival folding these at my grandparents house. So not only are ZhongZi a nostalgic memory for me, but they are also a perfect example of a dish wrapped, cooked, and eaten in a sustainable material.
